The Story Behind the Camera
Hey, I'm Austin!
I'm a photographer, teacher, storyteller... and yes, probably the guy making dinosaur noises or laying in the grass just to get your little one to smile.
Storytelling has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. Long before I ever picked up a camera, I found it on stage. For more than 20 years, I've spent my time acting, directing, and bringing stories to life. I learned that the moments people remember most aren't always the biggest ones. They're the quiet ones. The honest ones. The ones that make you feel something.
In 2014, I was given my first camera as a graduation gift. I thought I was going to become the next big YouTuber. Instead, I discovered something that felt even more like home. Photography gave me another way to tell stories—this time without saying a single word.
Today, family photography is where my heart is.
Of course I love the milestones. The growing families, the newborn snuggles, the birthdays, the anniversaries. But what means the most to me are the moments in between. The hand that instinctively reaches for yours. The way your kids look at you when they think no one's watching. The laughter that fills the space between the posed photos. Those are the moments that become the stories you'll tell years from now.
That's why I do what I do. I don't want your session to feel like checking "family photos" off your to-do list. I want it to feel like an evening spent together. We'll walk, we'll laugh, your kids will probably run in every direction, and somewhere in all of that, we'll create photographs that feel like your family, not someone else's Pinterest board. When I'm not behind the camera, I'm teaching elementary students, mentoring young people, training for my next fitness challenge, or spending time in the theater, where my love for storytelling first began. At the end of the day, I don't believe photography is about creating perfect pictures. I believe it's about making sure the moments you never want to forget have a place to live.
Because one day these won't just be photographs.
They'll be the way you remember this season of your life.
Can't wait to meet you
